The Jouktai-Gen wind farm Project is a 20 MW project, located in La Guajira Peninsula, near Puerto Bolivar. The project will be the first to deploy modern wind turbines in Colombia.  The project was developed by Jouktai-Gen in a collaboration between NuCapital Inc. and Acquire/WAYUU ESP. Additional longer-term projects are also under development, the expectation to keep developing in renewable wind projects in Colombia are quite positive.

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao –  July 28, 2017, the new  Tera Kòrá III wind farm was inaugurated. the newly operational windfarm has a total installed capacity of 17.25 MW, bringing the total in Curaçao to 47.25 MW.

The importance of this expanded project is reflected by the fact that, when combined with the existing wind farms, Curacao joins the world leaders in clean, sustainable energy; the island now sources greater than 40% of its annual demand from wind alone, along with its neighbor Aruba as the Caribbean leaders for clean energy.

From the early 1990’s Curaçao sourced clean energy from a total of 30 smaller wind turbines which were replaced in 2012 with 10 larger, state-of-the-art wind turbines. The 5 new turbines which were commissioned are Vestas V-117 3.45 MW turbines and will generate 65% of the energy originally generated from the 10 V90. Each turbine reaches a hub height of 91 meters from the ground, which three blades of 57 meters each. The wind turbines are built by the Danish company VESTAS and the civil works for the new wind farm were provided by CWM while the company MESC was responsible for the electrical infrastructure.

NuCuraçao Windparken – NuCapital redeveloped the existing wind farm Playa Kanoa after purchasing the Caribbean’s premier operating wind farm, Delta Windparken located at Playa Kanoa. The installed capacity was 9 MW and repowering of the earlier park has been completed with the commissioning of 15MW of installed capacity utilizing Vestas 3.0 MW V-90 turbines.

NuCapital was the successful bidder to repower the Caribbean’s oldest operating wind farm located at Tera Kórá, by replacing the existing 3 MW plant with 5 Vestas 3.0 MW V-90 turbines.

The Playa Kanoa and Tera Kórá new wind farms were formally commissioned in July 2012. The total of 30 MWs of installed capacity provides approximately 20% of the island’s demand and strengthens Aqualectra’s continued long-term commitment to clean energy with wind-sourced goals of 30% by the year 2020 and 40% of generation capacity by the year 2030.
